Arrangement of Teaching/learning activities and Clinical Practicum during Rainstorms, Tropical Cyclone and Extreme Condition

  1. . Teaching and learning activities

    Note -- Teaching and learning activities: lectures, tutorials, seminars, laboratory sessions and scheduled assessments.

    1. When Topical Cyclone No.1 or No.3/ Yellow or Red Rainstorm is hoisted: all teaching and learning activities will be held as scheduled.
    2. When Tropical Cyclone No. 8 or above/ Black Rainstorm Warning/ Extreme Condition is hoisted, arrangements of teaching and learning activities are outlined below:
      1. If teaching and learning activities haven’t started for the day
        If the signal/ warning/ Extreme Condition is hoisted
        at/after 06:30
        All AM session(s) of school activities scheduled in the time table will be cancelled.
        If the signal/ warning/ Extreme Condition is hoisted
        at/after 12:00
        All PM session(s) of school activities scheduled in the time table will be cancelled.
        The make-up session(s) will be scheduled as earliest as feasible.

      2. If teaching and learning activities have started for the day, and Tropical Cyclone No. 8 or above/ Black Rainstorm Warning is anticipated:
        If the Black Rainstorm is expected during school hours All school activities will continue unless otherwise announced
        If the Typhoon Signal No.8 or above is expected during school hours All school activities will be cancelled.
        The make-up session(s) (if applicable) will be scheduled as earliest as feasible.
  2. . Clinical Practicum arrangement for nurse learners* in Hospital Authority
    1. When Topical Cyclone No.1 or No.3/ Yellow or Red Rainstorm is hoisted: all clinical practicum will proceed as scheduled unless a special announcement has been made by the University / Department.
    2. When Tropical Cyclone No. 8 or above/ Black Rainstorm Warning/ Extreme Condition is hoisted, arrangements of clinical practicum are outlined below:
      Tropical Cyclone No.8 or above Black Rainstorm Warning Extreme Condition
      a) If the signal/ warning/extreme condition is hoisted at/ after 04:00 All AM duty of clinical practicum will be cancelled.
      b) If the signal/ warning/extreme condition is hoisted at/ after 06:00 All Day duty of clinical practicum will be cancelled.
      c) If the signal/ warning/extreme condition is hoisted at/ after 11:00 All PM duty of clinical practicum will be cancelled.
      d) If the signal/ warning/extreme condition is hoisted at/ after 18:00 All Night duty of clinical practicum will be cancelled.
      e) If the signal/ warning is hoisted during the clinical practicum hours All clinical practicum should be suspended immediately and students will be dismissed from clinical venue. If clinical practicum is held indoors: All clinical practicum should be continued.
      If clinical practicum is held outdoors: Clinical mentor shall suspend the activities immediately and keep the student in a sheltered environment until it is safe for him/her to return home.

      No resumption of clinical practicum once the warning is lowered within the shift of clinical practicum
* Nurse learners refer to all training program offered by HA nursing schools/ Tertiary institutions/ Universities, including:
  1. pre-enrollment nursing program
  2. pre-registration nursing program
  3. EN to RN conversion program
